The Spaniënhof is located in a historic building that actually dates back to 1557, when it was an inn for travelers on their way to Santiago de Compostella. The building then changed functions over the course of hundreds of years, but has now been recently renovated and restored to a place for travelers. All of this is located in the charming neighborhood of Lissewage, which when you visit will have you thinking you are 100 years in the past. Here, guests can hike, stroll or bike through the beautiful natural surroundings. You can visit museums, such as the Heiligenmuseum, where you can learn about the lives and view artwork of the saints. Or, you can enjoy local meals and frothy pints at several pubs and restaurants in the town. Of course, in Bruges proper, there is much more to explore such as monuments, churches, canals, markets, and old houses. For a great starting off point for any sightseeing trip, head to the Market Square.The Spaniënhof is an excellent place for relaxation and features a lovely garden, which has a covered terrace, an outdoor heated swimming pool, and tables and chairs for relaxing with a good book. If you enjoy animals, there are horses and chickens on the property. You can even bring our own horse to the bed and breakfast and stable it there. Dogs are also welcome and there is a fenced in yard so that your furry friend cannot escape.
